This was written by my friend Amal in Gaza. With the exception of fixing a few spelling errors, this is Amal’s unedited account of the Mourtaga family’s experience surviving in Gaza since October 7th.
“My name is Amal, and I'm reaching out to you with a please for help on behalf of three children who are my kids Musa, aged 18, Dana, aged 16, and Lana, aged 10.
These children are currently facing dire circumstances beyond their control. They lose all their assets and their home in the ongoing war!
They lack a safe place to stay, adequate food, access to medical care, and the basic necessities for a dignified life.
They have been displaced multiple times, constantly searching for safety and stability. Their latest refuge, a region called Rafah, is now under imminent threat of invasion and destruction by occupying forces.
Musa, Dana, and Lana are in desperate need of assistance, as their family has been living in horrible fear for about nine months. They lack the most basic needs of life, such as drinking water, food, bedrooms, all of which are required for any living human being to survive.
During every daylight hour, they hope the time stops because they don’t want the night to come. Because they are promised of very horrible explosions that might or might not hit them all over night.
Mousa and his family have never asked for help before this war that led them to lose all of their money and properties. Their only hope is exclusively being able to gather the necessary donations that enable them to escape Gaza strip. Please help them make their dream come true.
Musa lost his dream to continue his studies in the university. Dana and Lana also dreamed about continuing their study in the school as all the children in the world do.”

The Mourtaga family has been displaced three times since October 7th after their home in Gaza was destroyed in an airstrike.
Their family lacks access to clean water, food, medicine, and shelter.
Lana has contracted Hepatitis C from the living conditions in their tent in Deir al-Balah. Without access to proper medical care, her condition worsens daily.
They require immediate support to cover the costs of relocation and living expenses in a safer country for the next few months.
